What is the correct size for a custom rug?

At alp_ we know that each space is unique and that not all rooms adapt to standard sizes, let alone carpets. That's why we offer custom rugs in a variety of custom styles and materials, both indoor and outdoor.

Before placing an order for a custom rug, you should make sure you know the width and length of your custom rug. Please check measurements more than once as custom-sized and custom-made rugs cannot be returned.

Custom made living room rugs

Since salons come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and are typically the guest's first impression upon arrival at home, they are suitable for custom rugs. With a custom-made rug, you can show off your desired style in your living room and offer the feel that suits you best.

For an optimal design, all the furniture in the living room such as chairs, sofas and tables are placed on the carpet and a floor edge of about 30 or 45 cm is left on each side. Therefore, it should be large enough so that the table is centered on the rug and all the dining chairs sit well within the perimeter of the rug, even when pulled out. This ensures that guests do not stagger between two surfaces.

alp_ recommends using painter's tape to measure carpet space for the living room. Before measuring, place the dining chairs at a comfortable distance from the table and leave an edge of at least 6 inches. Please note that our custom-made or custom rugs are not designed to be used as wall-to-wall carpets. There is an allowance of +/- 2 cm width and length for each finished product.

Custom-made room rugs

Standard-size bedroom rugs are designed for rooms with standard-size beds. But what happens when you have limited space or an oddly shaped room? The first thing that is recommended is to block out the ideal size for your bedroom rug with painter's tape. It is advisable to leave between 23 and 30 centimeters of the uncarpeted floor on each side. It should always be borne in mind that custom-made rugs do not design from wall to wall and are usually played with a margin of maneuver of about +/- 2 cm.

Custom stair rugs

For corridors or stairs, it is recommended to consult a professional who makes custom rugs. Each stair is unique and custom-made rugs cannot be returned. Some installers include the initial measurement in the price of the installation.

For hallway and stair carpets, alp_ recommends using a base pad that conforms to the carpet. These protective pads are custom-made and not sold separately.
